iSWM™ Design Manual for Construction

Notice of Construction General Permit Renewal

The integrated Storm Water Management (iSWM™) Design Manual for Construction contains a systematic methodology for creating an effective storm water pollution prevention plan for construction sites and detailed information for the design, installation, and maintenance of practices to reduce the release of sediment and other pollutants resulting from construction activities. The Design Manual for construction is also intended to assist public and private entities in compliance with the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Construction General Permit, TXR 150000, issued by the Texas Council on Environmental Quality. Note that TCEQ has issued a renewed Construction General Permit, with an effective date of March 5, 2008. Click here for information on the new Construction General Permit.

Cities in the region are encouraged to adopt the Design Manual for Construction and require compliance with the provisions of the Manual within their jurisdictions. Adoption of the Design Manual for Construction will fulfill many aspects of the construction storm water management requirements of Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) permits.
